Our Valley Distance to the Vennbahn: 0,1 km
The magnificent foothills of the Ardennes in the south of East Belgium are adorned by Weweler Chapel and the ruins of Reuland Castle.More information
Behind Reuland Castle you will approach the second tunnel near Lengeler. Unfortunately, this passage through the tunnel remains blocked off. Several rare and protected species of bat have made the tunnel their refuge. For some 100-150 metres, the tunnel bypass has gradients of up to 10%. But it is definitely worth cycling towards the tunnel on the Luxembourg side where a wonderful didactic nature trail has been created, providing comprehensive information on the subject of bats. Just a short time later you reach your destination at the railway station in Troisvierges.Show map

The Vennbahn route starts in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Aachen. The hustle and bustle of urban life and traffic around Rothe Erde railway station are quickly replaced by a peaceful suburban idyll. The former abbey town of Kornelimünster re-awaits you with its mediaeval setting. Old diesel locomotives can still be marvelled at at the railway station in Walheim. The route takes you through a landscape of woodland and meadows across the border to East Belgium and comes to an end at the old station in Raeren.
